Right from its beginning the Aquarium has taken in ill or injured turtles found by the public at sea or on the beach..
When required, the Aquarium calls in private vets to assist. This activity grew over the years, as did the skill of the Aquarium personnel in caring for their health. The survival rate has much improved, and the animals, once healthy again, are released to the lagoon.
The Aquarium treats about 10 such animals each year.
