Releasing a hawksbill turtle into its own environment

This hawksbill turtle had been a resident of the Aquarium since late 2008. It was released to the ocean from Fun Beach (Anse Vata, Noumea) in front of an enthusiastic crowd, including many children, and was the occasion for passing along information about the animal, the species it belonged to, its life cycle and habits, and to reinforce the message of the importance of turtle conservation.
